Cool Off!

Actually it’s time to turn the cooling system ON.

Each spring and fall adjustments are made to the heating and air conditioning systems in campus buildings by the Facilities Management Department.  Thermostats are set to 74 degrees on April 15th and set back to 68 degrees on October 15th.  This procedure is in accordance with the temperature regulation policy that was established by the University in 2009 to conserve energy, money and to reduce green house gas emissions.

Remember – if you have a window air conditioner or the ability to adjust your room temperature please maintain the air temperature at your work space between 68 and 74 degrees.  All window air conditioners should be turned off at night and during weekends and when the room is unoccupied.

If you find that your space is getting either hotter than 74 degrees or much colder, please call Facilities Management at 8490 or submit a work order request and someone will gladly assist you. You are making a difference in conserving energy here at Washington and Lee.
